Middle Tennessee Highland Games and Celtic Festival provides the chance for amateur athletes to compete in all the traditional Heavy Scottish Athletic events, to the thrill of a large crowd of fans. Men over 40 compete in the Masters Class and men under 40 compete in the Men’s class.

We also have a Women’s amateur class and a Women’s Masters class. Any athlete can sign up to compete by completing a form and submitting the $30 fee to the address on the form. Competitors are accepted on a first come first accepted basis.

All Classes are limited to 10, with 2 alternates. Awards are presented in all classes for the top 3 scores. Festival attendees can watch the competitions throughout the entire day on the Main Field, except for the hammer throw which is done on the Tournament Field.

Athlete Registration is full for the 2019 Middle Tennessee Highland Games. Keep us in mind for next year!

Middle Tennessee Highland Games and Celtic Festival will host a Heavy Athletics Clinic on Friday September 6, 2019 from 12 pm - 4 pm. First-time athletes will be required to register for the Heavy Athletics Clinic. The clinic will be beneficial for most athletes, but it is only mandatory for first-time athletes. Clinic Registration is closed for 2019. Keep us in mind for next year!

Robert Valentine, Master of Ceremonies

Bob is a popular “compere” (master of ceremonies) at Scottish heritage events across America.  His stock of stories and ready wit are as suited for a drumming session (WhiskyTasting) as for the entertainment stage or the comedy club.  A veteran of stage and film, he is the author of five books, and has a comic CD titled, “I’ll Tak the Lo Road.” When not “working the Games,” he is a lecturer in Mass Communication at Murray State University in Kentucky.
